From now until Nov. 19, residents can find a nice surprise when heading down Vine Street behind Veterans Middle School. The Farmers Market arrives June 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. every Saturday, regardless of rain.
Visitors can expect fresh strawberries, broccoli, beets, radishes, rhubarb, carrots, mushrooms, cabbage, lettuce, Swiss chard, kale, and microgreens. These fresh ingredients are provided by an array of different farm vendors, namely Middle Earth Farm, Grant Family Farm, Bear Hill Farm, Brookford Farm, Clark Farm, Anything Grows Farm, and Cloutman Farm.
However, the market will be more than just fruits and vegetables. Ukrainian food and crepes will have a presence thanks to vendors A&J King Artisan Bakers and Bucovina Cuisines. Scouts BSA Troop 79 will be offering refreshments such as coffee, tea, lemonade, and water. Valicenti Organico will be offering its farm-made pasta and red gravy.
The market will also expand beyond food, with folk singer Terry Kitchen providing music. Copper Dog Books will be present with a selection to read, while Craft Vendors will have an assortment of textiles to browse. During the first week, Tom Panniello of National Sharpening will lend his skills sharpening knives and other tools.
The Farmers Market has the potential to be a one-stop shop to prepare Marbleheaders for all their summer holds.
