LYNN — Thirty-two new runners registered for the Lynn Youth Summer Track Meet Series this week, bringing its total to 238 participants. This past week, nearly 100 of them competed at Manning Field and five hailed from Marblehead.
The Aranson siblings, Zachery (age 10, 34.2s) and Caleb (age 9, 36.0s) placed first and second, respectively, in the 200-meter race.
Marblehead’s Serewa Korgie won the 400-meter race (1:36.4s). Another Korgie, Maeve, won the 800-meter race in 2:56.3s.
Eight-year-old Roxanna Duchane, of Marblehead, has a special connection to the event. Her first year of participation came when she was 7 months old, when she produced a girls’ record in the assisted 30-meter walk.
Throughout the following eight years, she has never missed the event.
Running is just one of her many activities. The do-it-all Marbleheader skates, swims, does gymnastics, dances, and plays both lacrosse and tennis. She also plays the piano and studies the Russian and Spanish languages.
In her spare time, she hopes her parents will allow her to venture into rock climbing with no ropes, rugby, and – maybe one day – a hike up Mount Everest.
