Nolan coaches track and field at Marblehead High. A town native and alumnus, he was a top-three hurdler in New England during his senior year. Here are his best of all time:
Player: Bo Jackson. “Bo knows, and he was the greatest athlete of all time. LeBron is close, but I think training and nutrition has progressed so much that it’s impossible to imagine what Bo could’ve done nowadays in his respective sport.”
Team: 2007 New England Patriots, “Even though they didn’t win the Super Bowl.”
Coach: John Wooden. “The pyramid of success, and the intentionality he has in every facet of life made him a phenomenal coach and leader.”
Play: Tiger Woods’ chip-in (hole 16) at the 2005 Masters. “The best golfer, comparing peaks, of all time. Nicklaus was the GOAT for longevity and sustained success.”
Rivalry: Army vs. Navy college football. “There’s so much energy and rivalry between the two. Yet, in the end, it’s pure respect. There’s nothing quite like it.”
Uniform: 1980 U.S. Olympic Hockey uniforms. “Miracle on Ice is a national epic, and those simple lined uniforms are awesome.”
Sports movie: “The Sandlot” because it’s “a simple classic.”
