‘Fund the Field’ nears goal with help from community

April 24, 2024 by Brianna McCadden

As of April 24, The Marblehead Boosters’ “Fund the Field” campaign has reached 92% of its million-dollar funding goal, thanks to local business and community efforts.
The boosters could not be more thankful for those who have been so involved and for their donations to help meet this goal.
“The support in Marblehead has been amazing as it always is,” Muffy Paquette, one of Fund the Fields Committee Chairs. “This community always rises to a challenge.”
She explained that they had installed the turf 11 years ago and were told it would last for around 8-10 years. Although it has lasted this long, the cost ended up being double what was originally projected.
Their campaign began in 2023, and they successfully secured a contractor to start the project at the end of the school year. Paquette said this was all thanks to the support of individuals in the community and local businesses.
Paquette also explained Piper Field’s importance, mentioning that it is used by people of all ages for a wide variety of sports and activities.
She also discussed what the campaign has done so far, mentioning that they’ve already created more of a “fan experience” due to the snack shed, thanks to Groom Construction and Donovan Land, and mural art above the home stands. A “Forever Fan Zone” has also been renovated, adding seating and a brick walkway.
“There is so much town pride and team spirit here, which certainly helped our fundraising effort,” Paquette said. “We are looking forward to watching the next generation make memories on Piper Field.”
