The disciplinary hearing of Marblehead Police officer Christopher Gallo, who has been on paid administrative leave since June 2021, is set to resume on Tuesday, May 16 after being rescheduled from April 26.
The initial hearing occurred on March 29, nearly two years after allegations of time fraud and domestic violence were brought forth against Gallo. In June, 2021, he was suspended for five days without pay after a report was received by Marblehead Police from the Inspector General’s office that included photographs of a police car parked outside of Gallo’s home over a four-month span.
He was placed on administrative leave following the five-day suspension and an internal investigation found that he allegedly violated multiple department policies.
During the hearing, Gallo’s attorney, Gary Nolan, gave a long opening statement that focused on the legitimacy of the pictures and continuing to delay the hearing, which has now spanned three town administrators.
The initial hearing also saw Sgt. Sean Brady and Officer Theresa Gay called as witnesses. Brady had authored the two reports into Gallo’s alleged misconduct, and said that he had a close relationship with him since joining the department. During his testimony, Nolan questioned Brady’s qualifications to conduct internal affairs investigations.
Gay, who was one of the detectives looking into the domestic dispute, testified that she interviewed two children who were present in Gallo’s home during the incident. She called both of them “extremely credible sources” before detailing what they said they saw occur that day.
