Members of Glover’s Regiment fired a cannon to commemorate the Fourth of July. The regiment fired 13 shots for each of the 13 original colonies of the United States and a 14th for members of the regiment who had died.
Between rounds of the cannon, the regiment read from the Declaration of Independence and fired muskets.
“It doesn’t get more American than that,” Regiment Capt. Seamus Daly said.
Kristen Soul, the daughter of the licensed cannon operator, said she “grew up thinking this is normal” because she has been attending cannon-firings with her father her entire life.
“I think it’s a great mix of education and entertainment. The Glover’s Regiment does a fantastic job,” attendee Josh Chandler said.
“Enjoyable, brings back a taste of history and it’s nice to be able to witness it,” Brian Snell said.
