The Green Marblehead Committee is inviting the town to attend a public meeting via zoom on Wednesday Feb. 15 to discuss and review the draft Marblehead Net Zero Roadmap. The meeting will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Green Marblehead Committee was created by the Select Board back in 2019 with the goal of reaching net zero carbon emissions. With input from residents, as well as guidance from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), the committee has set a community-wide goal of reaching net zero emissions by the year 2040, which is ten years earlier than the State of Massachusetts’ current goal.
In Oct. 2020, that goal was approved by residents who attended the public visioning session and two months later, the Visioning Document and Net Zero by 2040 goal was approved by the Select Board.
Since then, the committee has met monthly and continues to receive guidance from the MAPC to continue to develop a roadmap to reach the goal. The committee will use public input gathered from a workshop session in 2021 in their presentation of the Marblehead Net Zero Roadmap.
The meeting in February will give residents an opportunity to learn about the roadmap and inquire about it.
