Director of Grounds Peter Hasak speaks during his retirement celebration at Tedesco Country Club. (Spenser Hasak)

Hasak enjoys retirement celebration after 38 years

October 15, 2025 by Joey Barrett

An estimated 200 people gathered at Tedesco Country Club Friday night to celebrate Director of Grounds Peter Hasak, who is retiring at the end of this year after 38 years.

Featuring speeches, a complimentary dinner, and cocktails, the retirement celebration ran from 6-9 p.m. at the club’s 1903 Grill.

“The club’s been great to me,” said Hasak, who studied for two years at the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at UMass Amherst before landing at Tedesco in March of 1988. “It’s joyful – they’re good folks and I love it.”

An honorary membership was bestowed upon Hasak. General Manager Mike McGillicuddy called the 38-year tenure an “amazing achievement.

“It’s a testament to Peter’s dedication, work ethic, skills, and the special person he is,” McGillicuddy said. “From my seat, it has been incredibly fun and rewarding to have had the opportunity to work with Peter for the last seven years. Tedesco is a better place because of Peter and the whole membership wishes him a healthy and joyful retirement.”

Speaking at the event were Club President Joe Greenough, Women’s Golf Association Chair and longtime friend Terrie Leake, member and former employee Scott Delano, McGillicuddy, and Hasak.

Head Golf Professional Ryan Train said it was a “fantastic evening,” and hopes to see Hasak soon – but on a golf cart, not a mower.

“It was great to see a lot of Peter’s employees and superintendents from around the section come to support him,” Train said. “Thirty-eight years, and it’s deserved that he gets a little rest.”
