Acclaimed singer-songwriter Jon Pousette-Dart is set to bring his celebrated sound to the Me&Thee Coffeehouse on April 25. As a seasoned performer and recording artist with more than 40 years in the industry, Pousette-Dart continues to leave a lasting impression on audiences with his powerful voice and masterful guitar playing.
Pousette-Dart first emerged on the American music scene in the 1970s as the founder of The Pousette-Dart Band. Discovered by Boston-based music promoter Don Law during a performance at the Chicken Box in Nantucket, Pousette-Dart quickly moved to Boston and formed a duo, then a trio, and eventually a full band under Law’s management. The band went on to record several albums for Capitol Records, with their works “Amnesia” and “Pousette-Dart Band 3” both making the Billboard album chart. Their single “For Love” reached #83 on the Billboard singles chart in 1979.
Known for their success on album radio and popularity on the college circuit, The Pousette-Dart Band toured extensively throughout the United States, sharing stages with legendary acts such as The Byrds, Bonnie Raitt, Little Feat, The Eagles, James Taylor, The J. Geils Band, Eddie Money, Manfred Mann, Jonathan Edwards, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Emmylou Harris, Gary Wright, Robert Palmer, Randy Newman, Journey, Billy Joel, and NRBQ. The band was also part of the historic “Frampton Comes Alive” tour and opened for Yes on the “Fragile” tour, performing in arenas nationwide.
Although the original group disbanded in the early 1980s, Pousette-Dart continued to perform with original drummer Eric Parker and embarked on his own creative journey. His work in the 1990s brought him back to Nashville, where he released five solo albums, including his most recent effort, “TALK” (2015), a cohesive collection showcasing his best songs to date.
Today, Jon Pousette-Dart continues to tour in various formats, whether solo, as an acoustic duo, or with his accomplished band featuring bassist and harmony vocalist Malcolm Gold (Sheryl Crow, India.Arie), drummer Eric Parker (Joe Cocker, Mick Taylor), and guitarist/vocalist Jim Chapdelaine (Al Anderson, Phoebe Snow), who has co-produced several of Pousette-Dart’s records. Regardless of the configuration, Pousette-Dart delivers an engaging and professional performance that captivates audiences.
