In partnership with the Marblehead League of Women Voters, Abbot Public Library is presenting a series
of lectures on Marblehead town government, providing the opportunity for town residents to learn about
how individual departments work within the municipality. This program will be offered in person and on
Zoom. Registration is required to attend in person or via Zoom – please register at abbotlibrary.org/events.
The second speaker for fall 2023 is Finance Director Aleesha Nunley Benjamin. As the chief financial
officer and finance director for the Town of Marblehead, her job is to optimize the town’s financial
performance, enhance financial transparency and accountability, strengthen internal controls, and develop effective financial policies and procedures. She brings 17 years of experience in municipal accounting prior to her appointment to her position in Marblehead.
Aleesha Nunley Benjamin is a highly experienced accountant with a solid educational background in the
field. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Salem State University
in 2005, graduating cum laude. She further pursued advanced studies and obtained a Master of Business
Administration degree in finance from the same university in 2013. Currently she is enrolled at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she has completed three courses in preparation for the
Certified Public Accountant exam.
