The Salem Philharmonic Orchestra (SPO) is thrilled to announce its 2025 season, which will feature four exceptional concerts starting in January including some members of Marblehead showcasing their talents.
This year’s series promises to showcase a wide range of musical talent, from beloved local performers to young rising stars, while continuing the Philharmonic’s long tradition of offering free winter concerts to the Salem area.
The season opens on Sunday with a performance by soprano Erin Smith, whose vocal artistry has been a favorite among local audiences. Smith has sung on stages across the North Shore, and her appearance with the Salem Philharmonic is expected to be a highlight of the season.
The Jan. 12 concert will feature trumpeter Jay Daly in his highly anticipated “Celebration of the Popular Trumpet,” a special arrangement by George Darrah of Beverly. Daly’s performance promises to bring new energy and excitement to the orchestra’s brass section.
On Jan. 26, Alyona Shiryayeva a member of Marblehead Piano Studio will showcase her skills. Shiryayeva has been studying with pianist Elena Drabkin at the studio for seven years and has quite a history of exquisite performances.
The final show on Feb. 2 will wrap up the philharmonic season in Salem.
For over 100 years, the SPO has been providing free winter concerts to residents, creating an inclusive environment where classical music is accessible to all. The orchestra consists of 45 professional musicians who are primarily drawn from the local community, and it frequently collaborates with young, talented performers.
The SPO’s commitment to community outreach and educational programming makes its winter concerts especially meaningful. Every concert provides a platform for soloists, many of whom are emerging young artists. These performances give both the audience and the musicians an opportunity to experience the power and excitement of live symphonic music.
The SPO’s winter concert series, which occurs during the quieter months for many arts organizations, offers an exciting opportunity for classical music lovers to enjoy a professional orchestra without the usual distractions of a busy arts calendar. Moreover, the free admission ensures that all members of the community have the chance to experience the beauty and majesty of live orchestral music.
The Salem Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2025 season is sure to be another successful chapter in its long history, offering a fantastic mix of talented soloists, beloved orchestral works, and music that might otherwise be difficult to find in the concert hall.
