Beginning on Nov. 30, Marblehead Little Theatre, 12 School St., will offer a four-class introduction to Improv designed for preteens and teens.

No prior improv or performing experience is required, and classes are open to students aged 9-14.

Each class will feature improv games that translate to useful life skills like listening, creativity, patience, and collaboration, and classes are structured so “everyone will get plenty of play time and individual attention,” the theatre said in a statement.

The sessions are two hours and class size is no more than 12 students. Classes will be held
Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 – 5: 30 p.m. from Nov. 30th – Dec. 21.

The improv classes will be instructed by Bruce Whear, who has been performing since he was 12 years old.

Whear has been affiliated with Marblehead Little Theatre since the early 70’s as a performer, co-director, producer, and longtime Board member. Whear is also a founding member, performer, and producer of the popular local Improv Comedy Troupe “Accidentally on Purpose”.

A firm believer that theater and improv are much-needed skills in today’s schools, workplaces, and life, Whear is committed to passing on these life-changing skills to a new generation.
