To the editor:
This proverbial saying means that if the town uses its resources wisely, it might not need a fiscal budget override.
As the former Coffin and Eveleth schools gather interior mold and exterior rust, an apparently uncompromising Marblehead School Committee refuses to liquidate these unused properties.
School-budget dollars will be used to prevent, or repair damage from, vandalism, perform fire-safety checks, and also keep the property “neighborhood presentable”.
This is wasteful. These same dollars could be used for teacher salaries or to hire paraprofessional assistants.
