To the editor,
One of the primary responsibilities of the Board of Health is to expand the community awareness of health issues and public health concepts. If there is interest, the Board is prepared to offer a series of sessions presenting the basic principles of public health science in straightforward and relaxed discussions.
At its meeting on Dec. 9, a pilot of that concept will be offered. The Board chair, Tom Massaro, will present a high-level overview of how health care delivery and public health systems are structured in other developed countries. Dr Massaro has had the opportunity to live, work, and study in several countries, and will provide brief summaries of the British, Canadian, Australian, Swiss, Dutch, and Singaporean systems and compare those approaches to the current US system.
The Dec. 9 meeting will convene at 7:30 pm at the Mary Alley Municipal Building and will be available via Zoom.
