The Marblehead Arts Association will host a “FUNdraiser” to raise money for future exhibits, performances, and programming on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
“We’re raising funds to support, amongst other things, our galleries,” Director of Operations Xhazzie Kindle said. “And this includes our youth galleries.”
The association uses six gallery spaces that rotate exhibits approximately eight times a year. The largest of these spaces, the Ballroom Gallery, can display up to 40 moderately sized artworks and includes pedestals for sculptures.
The fundraising event on Friday will offer refreshments and a silent auction with items donated by local vendors. The main attraction, however, will be a performance by the renowned North Shore comedy troupe Accidentally on Purpose.
“Accidentally on Purpose is a very established comedy group in the North Shore,” Kindle said. “They’re a great group of guys and one of our goals at the Marblehead Arts Association is to increase all genres of art, including performing arts, so it just seemed like a good fit.”
Specializing in improv, Accidentally on Purpose has experience performing all over New England, and its founders have taken Boston stages with hits like the “Awesome ’80s Prom” and “Claddagh Bing Irish/Italian Wedding Show.” Its acts incorporate various elements of comedy, featuring subtle influences from “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” “Saturday Night Live,” and “The Carol Burnett Show.”
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the event starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $55 for MAA members and $65 for non-members. To learn more, visit marbleheadarts.org/art-beat-fundraiser/
