Marblehead Bank held its 15th annual MarbleShred event, alongside a community food drive.
“In addition to providing loans and financial services, we serve our communities through charitable contributions, volunteerism, financial education efforts, and developing products and special events like MarbleShred that meet the needs of those in our community. We also saw a need for people to safely dispose of their personal information,” said Marblehead Bank Marketing Manager Stephanie Maitland.
Maitland said the event is a way to give back to the community. The on-site shredder even had a camera so participants could watch their documents being securely and properly disposed of.
In 2018, Maitland said the bank decided to host MarbleShred biannually, with one event in the spring after tax season and another in the fall.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2021, the bank added a food drive to its events in collaboration with the Marblehead Food Pantry.
“We’ve received such a generous response from the community,” Maitland said. “Some people don’t even have shredding, and they just drop off some food. It’s really nice to see.”
Maitland added that the bank collects food year-round and anyone is welcome to bring nonperishable food donations to the lobby. Cash or check donations are also accepted.
