The Chamber of Commerce views fighting for the growth and development of local businesses as its “civic duty.” The nonprofit organization unites and promotes retail, banking, and dining fields not only in Marblehead, but in surrounding towns such as Salem and Swampscott as well. It is constantly expanding its roster of members with events and opportunities, and it is no different for the remaining five months of 2023.
The chamber’s directors reach out constantly to businesses to present the opportunity to join. Some of the initial promotions new members can reap the benefits of include ribbon cuttings that commemorate grand openings and chamber partnerships, “e-blast” emails spread to Marblehead residents that detail what the newest business partners have to offer, referrals by the chamber via avenues like the information booth, and general sponsorship opportunities.
September kicks off the chamber’s busy fundraising fall, starting with the first of two Educational Series events on Sept. 6 and 20. Locals are invited to the chamber’s headquarters on 62 Pleasant St. to hear from some of its most prominent business owners share their experience and knowledge. Ticket price is $10, while chamber members can attend free of charge.
On Sept. 14, the chamber’s 71st annual meeting will be held at the Corinthian Yacht Club. The main event of the meeting will be the celebration of winning businesses and individuals who were nominated for their outstanding commitment to the community. The September events end with the second rendition of the biannual sidewalk sales, in which participating businesses offer their products at discounted prices throughout the town.
October is headlined by “Trick or Treat in the Business Districts,” as families are welcome to enjoy sweets and treats as well as extended business hours from participating chamber businesses. The businesses can be identified with a specific Halloween poster.
November begins with the “Taste of the Town” event. The Corinthian Yacht Club will also play host to an event where attendees can enjoy food and spirits from local restaurants. Tickets can be purchased for $40 in advance, and $60 on the day of.
The chamber will end the year with its 52nd Christmas Walk and Holiday Stroll. The four-day extravaganza starts on Nov. 30, and each day has its own holiday event, including a tree-lighting ceremony and Santa’s lobster boat arrival. Chamber members can take part in the holiday celebrations for $75, while non-members can sign up for $100.
The Chamber of Commerce has more than 300 members and 80 industries under their networking umbrella, and it hopes these upcoming festivities will see that number continue to grow.
