Marblehead Council on Aging’s next Speaker Series guest will give attendees a taste of photographing the great outdoors.
Rick Cuzner of Rick Cuzner Outdoor Photography will be speaking at the COA on Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. to tell the story of his passion for photographing birds and other animals while out on his walks.
A local engineer, Cuzner’s photography roots go back to his early childhood. For 15 years, he has published and sold his art online and at local festivals. Depending on the season, Cuzner’s subjects range from deer to owls and, more recently, he has begun experimenting with water droplets and snowflakes.
“I love the adventure and exploration of trying to get a shot,” Cuzner said. “I really enjoy capturing images of the world around us that many people may not see or realize exist in such close proximity. Photography is just a way to share what is all around us and may be overlooked.”
Marblehead Speaker Series Chairman Michael Thompson commented on the wildlife in Marblehead, saying that the wildlife sanctuary offers a wide array of creatures to be seen on the pathways.
“Marbleheaders are well aware of the wild turkeys that stalk our streets, but few of us venture into the Marblehead Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can walk the pathways and see a wide variety of warblers,” Thompson said.
The event is free and open to the public. The COA Speaker Series requests that attendees sign up at the COA desk located at the Jacobi Community Center at 10 Humphrey St. For more information, contact Michael Thompson at 781-367-4952.
