Marblehead Counseling Center Announces Second Annual Community Scholarship Award

February 1, 2026 by For The Weekly News

Are you a high school senior on the North Shore hoping to make a significant contribution in the health and wellness field? Marblehead Counseling Center (MCC) is excited to announce that nominations for the second annual $1,000 Community Scholarship Award are now open! The Scholarship was developed to help high school graduates who would like to make significant contributions in the health and wellness field in the future. Professionals in these areas are desperately needed, and the scholarship is meant to encourage young people to continue their studies in the areas of mental, social and physical health.

The MCC Community Scholarship Award will be given to a single qualified student living within the MCC service area, which includes Marblehead, Swampscott, Lynn, Nahant, Peabody, Salem and Danvers. The scholarship may be used for both two and four year college costs, as well as health and wellness certification programs. Last year’s inaugural winner was Camila Ferrer Gomez, a senior from Danvers attending Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical School who planned to attend Boston University. Her future goals included promoting access to medical advancements for underserved communities and working to correct medical access disparities in the United States.

Eligibility:

Any high school senior living and/or attending high school in the Marblehead

Community Counseling service area (Marblehead, Swampscott, Lynn, Nahant, Peabody, Salem) including public, private, vocational and alternative education programs.

Applicant Requirements:

Education Level: High school senior

Experience: Volunteering, non-profit, extracurricular experience

Field of Study: All students may apply, but preference will be given to students planning to pursue healthcare, medicine, mental health, nursing, social work, psychology, or counseling

Award Selection and Presentation:

Nominations for the Marblehead Community Counseling Community Scholarship Award will be collected between now and mid-April, 2026. The winner will be chosen from the nominees by a selection committee consisting of MCC board members and members of the community. The winner(s) of the Community Scholarship Award will be decided in spring 2026, and announced at graduation events in the winner’s community.

In addition, The Marblehead Counseling Center announces its second annual Amy Saltz Community Champions Award to honor the significant, ongoing contributions of area townspeople whose passion for helping others has made a lasting impact. The Marblehead Counseling Center is currently seeking nominations of people who have dedicated their time and energy to bettering our community and improving life for residents in Marblehead and the surrounding area.
