Last Tuesday evening, Marblehead High School Principal Dan Bauer congratulated the Class of 2023 valedictorian and salutatorian, who had been announced earlier in the day.
Yasen Cohen was named valedictorian, while Catherine Trautman was named salutatorian.
“We are proud of your hard work and academic excellence!” Bauer wrote in a tweet.
The valedictorian is typically the highest-ranked student, meaning the student with the highest grade point average, among those graduating from an educational institution. The salutatorian is the second-highest-ranking student.
