LYNN — Last week’s Lynn Woods Summer Cross Country Race Series was a success, with 193 finishers and an extra-long race of 12 miles.
In the half-Barkley (6 miles), Brian Hutter (51:28) of Lynnfield and Matthew Bushway (54:17) of Lynn each cracked the top seven. Of the 18 runners to finish in less than an hour, six were from Lynn, while Scott Somers represented Peabody with a time of 58:31.
Marblehead was also represented, as Mary Herchenhahn impressed with a 1:02:18 and 10:23 pace. In total between all the races, 190 runners were from Marblehead.
In the Baby Barkley – a 12-mile challenge – two Lynn natives finished in the top three as Nakri Dao (1:44:06) and Johnny Shipp (1:46:00) each impressed.
In total, four Lynn runners cracked the top 10 as Ian Edwards ran a 1:54:52 for eighth place, while Eric Bowden finished 10th with a 1:54:52.
In Dao’s second-place victory, her 1:44:06 was done with a pace of 8:41.
Elidan Monykuc, a 9-year-old runner from Lynn placed second in the kids race (1.59 miles) with a 16:20 and a cool pace of 10:16.
Rounding out the top five were Karis (16:23) and Kalin Bennett (16:24) from Peabody, and Madison Desilets (17:06) from Lynn.
Twenty Lynn kids ran the race, while eight runners were from Peabody and four were from Salem.
In the Steel Tower run, Lynn’s Rachel Brennan registered first place as the 20-year-old finished with a 16:41 (6:42 pace). Jake Rodriguez was right behind in third place as the Peabody native struck an 18:14.
Of the 93 finishers in the Steel Tower run, 35 were from Lynn.
