BANGOR — Without a doubt, the Marblehead/Swampscott Post 57 Junior Legion baseball team (22-4) had a summer to remember. That said, its road finally came to an end in Bangor, Maine.
In Sunday’s Northeast Junior Regionals championship game, Marblehead/Swampscott fell, 4-0, against Berlin, New Hampshire. On the positive side, Nick Berube and Chase Groothuis went home with hits, and Berube struck out six from the mound.
Before Sunday’s defeat, the locals were rolling. They took care of Trenton with ease, 17-7, on Saturday behind Michael Collins’ three hits. Caden Ross was active with three runs, while do-it-all Berube went 3-for-4.
To advance to the title game, David Palmer punched out seven batters Sunday morning in a 6-1 triumph against West Winfield, New York.
