A Marblehead man won $25,000 a year for life last month when the first five numbers on his lottery ticket matched those selected in a Nov. 22 drawing.

Humberto Bernabe purchased his winning ticket at a Stop & Shop on Paradise Road in Swampscott, and claimed his prize at the Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester. Bernabe opted not to take the annual payment, instead selecting a one-time payment of $390,000 (before taxes) as his prize.

Bernabe plans to put his winnings towards buying a house, the Lottery said in a statement. The winning numbers Bernabe selected were ones that he’s been playing in multiple games over the last two and a half years.

The store that sold Bernabe his winning ticket received a $5,000 bonus.
