Clifton Lutheran Church is inviting youth and families from the North Suburban Youth Ministry to “a weekend of fun, faith and fellowship.”
This “special weekend of connection, inspiration and adventure” is at Camp Calumet in Freedom, New Hampshire, from March 28-30.
“Nestled along the shores of Ossipee Lake, Camp Calumet provides a stunning backdrop for a weekend of faith-filled activities, outdoor adventures, and meaningful connections,” wrote Amy Berenson, a volunteer. “Whether exploring snowy trails, sharing stories by the fire or engaging in uplifting discussions, attendees will create lasting memories in a warm and welcoming environment.”
According to Berenson, the weekend highlights are:
- Outdoor adventures, including snowshoeing, sledding and nature walks
- Faith-based activities, including devotionals and discussions focused on community, love and service
- Community building, including games, team activities and shared meals designed to strengthen bonds
- Family fun, including relaxing by the fire, taking part in arts and crafts and enjoying quality time together.
“The weekend getaway at Calumet is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the Marblehead community members as well as a great time to reconnect with nature and share in a spiritually enriching experience for all ages,” said Jess Easter, youth pastor.
She added that it’s a family camp, so it’s ideal that everyone will come as a family. Youth whose families cannot attend are still able to attend the camp if they are in at least the sixth grade.
“The ministry is open to any and all youth wherever they may be,” wrote Rector and Reverend Clyde Elledge. “The approach is unapologetically liberal theology (embracing LGBT+, women in ministry, non-literal interpretation of the scripture.”
The prices vary depending on where people would like to stay at the camp, ranging from about $100-500, and do not include the additional fees for meals. Weekend meal packages, which include Saturday breakfast through Sunday lunch, are $83/adult and $41.50/youth.
Rev. Clyde Elledge, the rector of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, has offered confidential financial assistance for families that need some support to be able to participate. To learn more about that, reach out to Easter via email at jess@thenysm.org or Elledge via email at rector@standrewsmhd.org.
