Me&Thee welcome Paul and Lorkovic on Nov. 18

November 21, 2022 by For The Weekly News

Me&Thee will host musicians Ellis Paul and Radoslav Lorković for a concert at 8 p.m. on Nov. 18.

Me&Thee postponed Boston Music Award winner Ellis Paul’s originally scheduled performance in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Born in Zagreb, Croatia, Lorković grew up listening to his grandma’s favorite Croatian, Slovenian, and Czech folk songs.

A troubadour, folkie, and storyteller, Paul has been on the music scene since 1994, according to a Me&Thee press release. On Nov. 18, Me&Thee will host Paul and Lorković for an evening of intimate, provocative, and romantic tales including new music from Paul’s upcoming album “55,” which reflects his musings on the last two year’s events.

Throughout his career, Paul has released nearly two dozen albums. His music is heavily influenced by folk singer Woody Guthrie. Guthrie’s daughter, Nora, noted that she is now a fan of Paul.

“In times like these, it’s comforting to know that Ellis Paul is actually holding our sanity on his own stage!” Nora Guthrie said in the release. “Wise, tender, brilliant, and biting, Ellis is one of our best human compasses.”

Folk artists Alice Howe and Freebo will open the Nov. 18 show. Originally from Boston, Howe is a rising voice in modern folk and blues. Freebo is a folk, blues, and rock musician who has toured with artists such as Ringo Starr, Dr. John, and Neil Young.

General tickets to the Nov. 18 show are available for $25. Student tickets are available for $10. Those interested in attending can purchase tickets at Arnould’s Gallery on Washington Street or online at meandthee.org. Doors will open at 7:15 p.m. The venue’s kitchen will open at 7:30 p.m. Face masks will be required for those in attendance.
