For the ninth consecutive time, Marblehead Television has been awarded with the Alliance for Community Media’s Overall Excellence Award for its “production quality and commitment to community focused programming,” a statement released by MHTV read.
The award recognizes television stations for their “entire range of responsiveness to community needs and the development of diverse community involvement.”
MHTV Executive Director Joan Goloboy credited the staff and volunteers who have dedicated their time and effort to the station over the years.
“It’s a tremendous accomplishment by the staff, which includes Jon Caswell, James Maroney, Pam Evans, and Jess Burton,” Goloboy said. “Day after day, they are focused on providing ‘truly local’ coverage of Marblehead news, sports, and information. The award also recognizes the commitment of our talented volunteers – some of whom have worked alongside us for many years.”
Marblehead Community Access and Media, Inc. (MCAM) started about 40 years ago as a cable company station. In 2009, the company became a 501c3 nonprofit, membership-based organization. It is governed by the MCAM Board of Directors. MHTV can be seen on Verizon, Channel 28, Verizon HD 2128 and Comcast, Channel 8.
