Marblehead Little Theatre is thrilled to announce non-Equity auditions for “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.” Directed by Alexandra Dietrich, with book and lyrics by Robert L. Freedman, music and lyrics by Steven Lutvak, and based on a novel by Roy Horniman, “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” runs Jan. 26 through Feb. 4, 2024. Auditions will be held Saturday, Nov. 4 from 2 to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 5 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. (a more specific time window will be announced if a callback is offered). Auditions and callbacks will take place at Marblehead Little Theatre, 12 School St., Marblehead, MA. Actors are asked to prepare 32 bar cuts from contrasting songs (uptempo/patter and lyrical ballad) that show vocal range in the style of the musical.
Examples of this would be Golden Age, Gilbert and Sullivan, Rodgers and Hart, Gershwin, Cole Porter, Comedic Sondheim. Operetta in English is welcome, a song displaying a British accent is encouraged, and songs from “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” are allowed. Bring sheet music to the audition, hole-punched in a binder, and an accompanist will be provided. Please note: All actors and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for this production. Please bring proof of vaccination to your audition.
