Like their summer as a whole, the Marblehead Seasiders of the North Shore Baseball League delivered another up-and-down week. The team went 1-1 to fall to 8-16 on the season.
On Thursday, August 1, Marblehead met its match against Beverly. The Recs took care of business, 10-1, on their home diamond. Trey Blackmer, Enrique Quinonez, and Mike Mitchell (R) had the lone Seasider hits, while Ian Gallagher struck out three batters.
Beverly registered eight hits, seven walks, and just five strikeouts for a dominant offensive performance.
But the next night, on Friday, Marblehead had vengeance on its mind. It defeated Swampscott, 10-6, in enemy territory. Ben Shea led the way with two hits, while Schuyler Schmitt tacked on three RBI.
Kenry Manzanillo (3 K), Corey Bleau (3), and Jaylon Richardson (2) combined for eight punchouts.
