Hybrid meeting held in the interim library

Trustees in attendance: Gary Amberik (Chair), Kathy Barker, Jennifer Jewell, Deb Payson, David Ross, John Williams, and Kim Grad (Library Director)
1. Minutes of Feb. 5, 2024 were approved.
2. Director’s Report:
Approval by vote of having the library closing hour on Monday and Wednesday at 9 p.m. (instead of 8 p.m.).
In preparation for the move to the renovated library, on March 15, book pick-up will not be available at the library.
The library is planning a closing date on April 22, but that date is not definite.
The Literary Festival will take place from July 4 to July 7. On the last day, Sunday July 7, the library will be open. Many authors will be invited. Detail schedule is to be determined.
A legislative breakfast is also planned for later this year. This event is open to the public. It emphasizes the importance of state financial aid for libraries, the support of innovative programs, and the partnership and collaboration among libraries.
Several issues are being discussed and worked on, such as a new meeting-room policy, as well as the fees that will be applied to individuals or groups interested in renting a working space or organizing an event at the library.
3. Chair’s Report and Building Renovations updates:
- The APLF (Abbot Public Library Fund) will have a meeting Tuesday, March 12.
- An invoice from the architectural firm Johnson Roberts of $9,915 was voted and approved by the trustees.
- The renovations are continuing at pace at the library; the new elevator will be installed soon.
4. Friends of the library updates:
– The Friends will hold an Annual General Meeting on March 13, 2024.
– A moving sale of books will take place at the library from March 25 to March 30.
The sale will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on all days except Thursday, when it will be held from 12 to 4 p.m.
The next meeting will be on April 1 at 6 p.m.
