St. John’s Prep’s hockey team made it look easy this past week, topping Wellesley (7-1) and Lincoln-Sudbury (6-2) in back-to-back Division 1 state tournament showings.
Talk about a versatile attack. Against Wellesley, Cooper Hosmer and Jake Vana each lit the lamp twice. Caleb White, Mason Luciano, and Brendan Powers tucked the others, and the top-Eagles flew to the next round.
Earlier in the week, they tripled up No. 32 Lincoln-Sudbury at Essex Sports Center in Middleton. Lynnfield’s Christian Rosa went home with a hat trick, while Johnny Tighe tucked two goals for the Eagles.
With coach Kristian Hanson helming The Prep, it advanced to Thursday’s Sweet 16 matchup against No. 9 Hingham with puck-drop set for 7:30 p.m. at Stoneham Arena.
