Approximately one week after the Marblehead Police Department began collecting candy for Operation Troop Support, it continues to bear positive results.
“It’s been going wonderfully,” Captain Matt Freeman said. “There are boxes after boxes piled up in the lobby and the candy is continuing to come in.”
Families in and around the Marblehead area have been nothing short of generous when it comes to sharing their Halloween candy. Captain Freeman added that that people have come in to drop goods goods off on a daily basis.
This is all in an effort to share the Halloween spirit and candy with those who are overseas and don’t have the ability of enjoying the holiday properly. Operation Troop Support coordinates donations similar to these throughout the year to bring brighter moments to our soldiers.
“We’re looking forward to keeping this going until November 15th when we box it up, seal it, and send it over,” Freeman added.
Donations of Halloween candy can still be made at the Marblehead Police Department through Nov. 15.
