It’s no secret that Marblehead’s reach spreads far and wide, but what the son of a Marblehead father found halfway across the globe really cements that fact.
Nick Pullen’s son flew into Tokyo, Japan last week, setting out to explore the city and its culture. Pullen said that his son has an interest in exploring thrift stores and browsing through vintage clothing markets.
At thrift shops, you can be sure to find some unique pieces of clothing, but he never expected to find a Marblehead High School practice football jersey hanging on a rack in Japan.
“It really is a small world, but the reach that Marblehead and its special community has never ceases to amaze,” Nick Pullen said in an email sent to The Weekly News.
The red mesh practice jersey, hanging in a Tokyo thrift shop, has an illustration of a football wedged in between the words MARBLEHEAD FOOTBALL, and appears to be in decent condition, with no signs of wear and tear.
It is unclear how the jersey may have found itself in Tokyo, but whatever the story may be, it certainly would be an interesting one. There is no date on the jersey, but Pullen said that he believes there may be people in the community that would be able to put a year on it after seeing the picture that his son took.
So what’s your take? How do you think it got there? And what year do you think it’s from? We would love to hear your thoughts.
