Author and political analyst Rich Rubino will be recounting humorous stories from past presidential campaigns at the next Council on Aging Speaker Series event titled: A Funny Thing Happened on the Campaign Trail. The event will take place on Wednesday Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. at the COA.
A Marblehead resident, Rubino has authored five political books, most recently publishing “The Great American Political Trivia Challenge: Political Trivia on Steroids.” Rubino has also made many appearances on national television and radio stations, where he is known for discussing and analyzing U.S politics.
In a press release, Chairman of the Marblehead Speaker Series Michael Thompson said that Rubino will provide some comedic relief to the world of politics.
“Politics is not always a serious business,” Thompson said. “Sometimes it’s humorous and Rich has a cornucopia of stories that will help put it all in perspective.”
In a statement, Rubino provided a small look into his political humor for those planning on attending.
“I am a recovering C-SPAN addict, having started listening in high school, I now can reflect on the strange machinations of government,” Rubino said.
The event is free and open to the public. The Speaker Series Committee requests that attendees sign up at the COA desk located inside of the Jacobi Community Center at 10 Humphrey St. For more information, contact Michael Thompson at 781-367-4952.
The Marblehead Speaker Series runs educational events each quarter at the COA. The planning committee for the series is comprised of senior volunteers who share interests in a variety of topics.
