The Marblehead Conservatory is inviting all members, friends and others to its annual meeting March 26 at 7 p.m. at Abbot Public Library, which will be followed by a presentation by wildlife photographer and Marblehead local Rick Cuzner on photographing local wildlife.
“Drawing from his extensive experience as a photographer, Cuzner will explore the captivating intersection of nature and visual storytelling, sharing insights into capturing the beauty and complexity of wildlife in their natural habitats,” said Kimberly Grad, Abbot Public Library director. “He will discuss the technical aspects of photography, the importance of patience and timing and the ethical considerations involved in photographing animals.”
She added, “Through captivating visuals, Cuzner will show the power of photography to raise awareness about conservation and inspire appreciation for the natural world.”
Cuzner said photography was “just a passion project that grew out of control,” and he now finds himself going out to take photos almost every day. He added that he is self-taught and by no means a professional photographer.
“I just love the hunt of it, like running around the woods and finding cool things that are somewhat out in the open that people just walk by and may not ever see,” he said. “All the stuff I take photos of are seen from a trail basically. Anybody can go see them. It’s just you got to get out there and do it.”
Cuzner’s presentation will showcase the photos he’s taken and explain the how behind what he does behind the lens. He hopes to share his knowledge and passion with attendees.
Registration is required to attend in person and via Zoom. Hopeful attendees can register at tinyurl.com/wildlife-photos.
