Marblehead softball’s (16-3) Ruby Calienes allowed just three hits and struck out five batters in her team’s 7-4 home win against Boston Latin last Wednesday, May 22. Lyla McGovern and Eva Walton each went 2-for-3, while Luka Bornhorst knocked in two runs with a triple in the fourth inning.
Later in the week, it was another day, another Tessa Francis victory in the circle, giving Marblehead a 7-0 win against Ipswich. She punched out six batters, while Calienes came in and struck out 10 more.
Offensively, Bornhorst went 3-for-3, while Clara Donovan knocked in a pair of runs.

Marblehead (7-11) showed off its explosiveness, ripping 15 goals against Saugus for win number seven. Ramona Gillett led the charge with four goals and two assists.
Other contributing Magicians were Maddie Forbes (3 goals, 2 assists), Kathryn Commoss (2 goals), Gretchen Smith (2 goals), Caroline Scroope (goal), Cassidy Lubeck (goal), Kate Burns (goal), Whitney Jellison (goal), and Molly Bullard (3 saves).

The Prep wrapped up its regular season in style, doubling up host Hingham behind hat tricks from Jake Vana and Drew Bossi. Sam Wilmot, Brady Plaza and Nate Bernarducci played well defensively.
The Eagles trailed, 3-1, but rattled off six unanswered goals in a second-quarter barrage.

St. John’s Shrewsbury 1
The St. John’s Prep tennis team took care of business for the final time this regular season in a 4-1 final against host St. John’s Shrewsbury. The Eagles finished 17-0 and 10-0 in the Catholic Conference.
Usual suspects John DeAngelis and Jack Prokopis served up singles wins. From there, the team of Luke Prokopis and Boris Kouzminov, as well as the combination of Mark McDuffee and Alex Melville scored doubles victories.
Prep is ranked No. 1 in the MIAA Division 1 power rankings, with brackets being released in the coming days.

The Prep kept its perfect record (16-0) intact, knocking down Andover in a sweep. John DeAngelis, Jack Prokopis, and Luke Free owned the singles department, while the doubles duos of Luke Prokopis-Boris Kouzminov and Mark McDuffee-Alex Melville got the job done, too.
