Despite a home-court, 43-27 loss to Peabody Tuesday night, Marblehead girls basketball coach Paul Moran said it was “maybe our best effort all season.” His Magicians were led by Tessa Andriano (11 points) and Greta Sachs (10).
“The kids gave an all-out effort,” Moran said.
The Tanners (7-7) were led by Olivia Gaynor (14 points, 5 assists, 5 steals), Lizzie Bettencourt (8 points, 8 rebounds), and Ally Bettencourt (6 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals). Avery Bettencourt, Aliana Ryan, and Maia Davis all played strong games, according to Peabody coach Stan McKeen.

Despite six points apiece from Ethan Waszkelewicz, Dawagner De Los Santos, and Marcus Magloire, plus another five from Mike Miller, The Prep (1-14) couldn’t find an answer against Malden Catholic.

Three goals in the first period and another three in the second did the trick for St. John’s Prep, which took down Arlington Catholic on home ice. Goal-scorers were Ryan Finn, JR Goldstein, Chris DiBella, Brennan Waters, Brandon Ward, and Ryan DeLucia.

Marblehead’s boys and girls teams closed their seasons with convincing victories against Salem and Winthrop. The boys finished 7-2, while the girls finished 8-0-1 to win the regular season Northeastern Conference championship in a shared title with Peabody.
