The Marblehead Seasiders, of the North Shore Baseball League, delivered an up-and-down weekend. Saturday, it was time to party, but Sunday brought the blues.
Both games were held at Seaside Park. In Saturday’s matinee, Marblehead took care of the North Shore Phillies, 3-0.
Enrique Quinonez, James Giugino, Tyler Wilson, and Trey Blackmer picked up hits for the hosts. Giugino, Blackmer, and Ben Shea went home with RBI, while Ryan Gallagher scored a run.
Giugino (4-2) was wheeling-and-dealing on the bump. The do-it-all Seasider struck out 10 batters, allowing just four walks and a hit. Colin Dhaliwal entered in relief and added a punchout.
Kyle Finnigan led the way for the Phillies, striking out seven and walking three across five innings to keep things interesting.
Sunday, however, came with a different story – one with not so good of an ending. The North Shore Storm handled the Seasiders with ease, 11-0.
That said, the losing effort didn’t come without positives. Drew Whitman went 2-for-2, followed by a hit apiece from Gallagher and Derek Finn.
Jack Lindsay pitched 3 1/3 innings, striking out two and allowing six hits. Gallagher (3 K) and TJ Walsh (K) entered in relief, but couldn’t turn things around for the Seasiders, whose offense struck out 10 times.
