The Marblehead gymnastics team – celebrating its Senior Night – got the job done against the Tanners of Peabody, escaping with a 131.9-98.65 win last Thursday, February 8 at the Lynch Van Otterloo YMCA.
Captain Kristina Martin placed first on vault with an 8.5, Allison Dana finished first on bars with an 8.55 – also on beam with an 8.5 – and Maeve Mcilroy placed first on floor with a 9.7.
Seniors celebrated were Dana, captain Katie Collette, Mcilroy, and Martin, the latter of whom hails from Swampscott.
For Peabody, it was a loss, but not without positives. Senior captain Kim Viera stuck the beam with a 6.2, while co-captain Bailey Merchant secured a 6.2 on vault, 4.5 on bars, 6 on beam, and 6.6 on floor.
