Not only does summertime come with warm weather and beach days, but also, athletic clinics. From Patrick Bugler’s basketball camp, to Mike Giardi’s baseball and softball clinic, and to Chris Barone’s track and field camp, here’s the rundown:
Bugler’s All-Star clinic begins Monday at Marblehead High, putting together two elements: fun and fundamentals. The boys’ session runs from July 22-26, with the girls following up from July 29-August 2. The camp is for students entering grades 5-9.
“Each session lasts four hours,” said Bugler, a Marblehead High alum and former captain of Salem State’s basketball team. “The first hour is skills development. Fundamentals. I like to think that separates me from some of the others. I’m big on things like footwork, ball-handling, and things like that.
For the 19th consecutive year, high school baseball coach Mike Giardi has partnered with the Marblehead Recreation and Parks Department – alongside current baseball and softball Magicians – for another clinic, which aims to finetune skills under professional guidance.
Space is limited, however, so sign up soon at Marblehead Rec & Park. It’s for those entering grades 2-8 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The clinic begins Monday and goes until Thursday at Gatchell’s Field.
But that’s not all. Develop your running skills with Barone, a Marblehead alum, former Northeastern Conference All-Star, and Holy Cross graduate. At the Division 1 program, he broke two records and served as captain his senior year.
According to the clinic’s promotion, its goals are to target athletic goals with individually-designed workouts, participate in drills, learn proper technique, develop conditioning fundamentals, and gain tips within the recruitment process.
The camp (boys and girls entering grades 9-12) runs until August 23 (Monday-Wednesday-Friday). Sign up by emailing barone.chris@msn.com
