Do you have extra books taking up space on your bookshelves? Stop by Abbot Public Library’s parking lot off Maverick Street to drop off your new or gently used books during Book Donation Day on Wednesday, Oct. 16, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Fall Book Sale

Fall into reading with the Friends of Abbot Public Library’s Fall Book Sale! Find your next great read (which you won’t have to return!) while supporting the library. Proceeds from the book sale will go toward Abbot Public Library’s programs and services, including museum passes, the Library of Things, and more.
ADULT PROGRAMS
Abbot Public Library will host many of its regular programs this week, including the weekly Adult Fiction Book Club, the monthly Community Craft and Chat, the Poetry Salon with Claire Keyes, and the virtual event “Haunted Experiences” with Jeff DePaoli. CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS
The Children’s Room will host its weekly Wednesday Story Time A-Go-Go with Debbie Leibowitz, Thursday Kids’ Craft Afternoon, and the monthly Music with Dara. They will also host two Mason Jar Terrarium craft programs. More information and registration links are available at abbotlibrary.org/events.
In addition, they will offer a story time with Library Director Kimberly Grad and a workshop to make blankets for shelter animals.

For ages birth to 12 months
Join Children’s Librarian and Abbot Public Library Director Kimberly Grad for a story time featuring songs, fingerplays, board books, and playtime for our littlest pre-readers. This program is designed for lap-sitting babies ages 0-12 months and their caregivers. Online registration is required.

Sew a Pet Blanket for Your Furry Friend with Lyn Holian

For ages 7 and up
Children ages 7 and up are invited to join us for stories about shelter pets and adoption. We will then make warm, fuzzy blankets to donate to local shelters. The activity involves sharp scissors and tying knots. Caregivers may assist children if needed.
Please note: This is a two-session event on Tuesdays, Oct. 15 and 22, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
