Another week has come and gone for the Marblehead Seasiders of the North Shore Baseball League. Like their season so far, it was an up-and-down one that saw two losses, but a strong win against the Kingston Night Owls.
Let’s start there. In last Thursday’s nighttime showdown at Haverhill Stadium, Marblehead defeated Kingston, 2-1, to complete back-to-back wins (the Seasiders took care of North Reading the game before.).
Derek Finn led Marblehead’s charge with two hits in just three at-bats, also picking up a walk. Ryan Gallagher, Brannon Frost, Enrique Quinonez, Mike Mitchell, and Trey Blackmer rounded out the rest of the Seasiders’ hits.
Marblehead walked seven times and connected on seven hits across 27 total at-bats.
On the bump, Ian Gallagher struck out four batters and allowed just one hit, while Jack Lindsay allowed just three hits across 4 1/3 innings pitched.
Unfortunately for the Seasiders, they ran into trouble against Manchester – and in a rematch against Kingston, a game in which they fell, 3-1, on Saturday.
In Sunday’s 7-2 defeat to Manchester, Tyler Wilson was a standout, going 1-for-2 with an RBI. Schuyler Schmitt, Brady Lavender, and Blackmer rounded out the offense with hits, while Quinonez went home with an RBI.
Ian Gallagher pitched four innings, punching out four and allowing just three hits.
With a 3-10 record, Marblehead jumped the 2-9 Beverly Recs in the standings, but still looks up to the remaining nine teams.
