Marblehead Artist, Cathy Marie Michael, invites you to the Opening Reception of her First Solo Art Show on Sunday, Nov. 2 from 12-2 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 28 Mugford St. in Old Town, Marblehead.
Michael paints individuals whose stories have called deeply to her. She works in pastel whose depth and subtlety allows her to convey the strength and resilience of people who prevail in the face of grave injustice.
Michael will present an Artist Talk at 12:30 p.m. to share the human stories that have inspired these portraits. Her artistic work allows her to have a Voice in our challenging times. She will share how she found that voice and how it can empower us.
She was honored this past year with a Best Of Show Award from the Marblehead Festival of Arts for her Pastel Portrait “Motherless Twins.” She has also been honored for her work at a Show at the Marblehead Arts Association where she has been an Artist Member for years.
Cathy has lived in Marblehead for 42 years and has studied at both the Acorn Gallery and the Marblehead Arts Association. Prints of the artwork and magnetic stocking stuffers will be available for purchase at the opening. There will be an open discussion after the presentation. All are welcome. The Show will be up for the month of November during limited Church hours: Monday from 2-5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.; and Wednesday 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
