Traveling from Montreal, Quebec, indie folk band Little Misty will perform at the Me&Thee stage on Friday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. This marks the band’s first visit to Marblehead.
Led by Kathryn Samman and François Jalbert, and joined by Tommy Gauthier, Little Misty’s foundation is folk, but their repertoire blends progressive rock, bluegrass, and indie rock influences with broader compositions. Their performances range from cinematic landscapes to wailing guitar solos, exploring a full spectrum of musical possibilities while enhancing their storytelling.
Americana UK called Little Misty’s music “extraordinary,” while Montreal Rocks described it as having “an ethereal quality.”
Little Misty’s latest album, Nowhere Land, presents a collection of contrasting short stories. Samman and Jalbert spent much of the pandemic writing remotely, crafting detailed demos and arrangements until it was safe to record together in the studio. More than a year since recording, the band is now releasing these stories through their tour.
This performance is supported by a grant from the Marblehead Cultural Council, a local agency funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, as part of Me&Thee’s World Music Series.
Fee-free general admission tickets and $10 student tickets are available at meandthee.org. Tickets are also sold locally at Arnould Gallery on Washington Street in Marblehead. No phone orders are accepted, and no other ticket websites are authorized.
Doors open at 7:15 p.m., with music starting shortly after 8 p.m. Me&Thee is an all-volunteer, nonprofit arts organization located at the UU Church, 28 Mugford St., Marblehead, now in its 55th season. Freshly baked desserts, mulled cider, coffee, tea, and seltzers will be available before the show and during intermission.
