Village Elementary School Principal Amanda Murphy has been selected as a finalist for a principal position at an elementary school in Danvers, she announced in an email sent to families Monday.
The interview process for the position continued Monday and Tuesday, Murphy said, with two more rounds of interviews, both including staff and parents. If she is selected, she would begin working there in July.
“I wanted to give you a ‘head’s up,’ as I value this community tremendously,” Murphy said. “While this is a great opportunity for me, I am also lucky to have such a community that I would enjoy continuing to work in.”
If selected, Murphy would be the second Marblehead Public Schools administrator to join the school district in Danvers. Former Marblehead High School Principal Dan Bauer is currently in his first year as superintendent of Danvers Public Schools.
Murphy would also join the ranks of a number of administrators who have departed from Marblehead’s district in recent months.
Former Assistant Superintendent Nan Murphy is now with Dedham Public Schools as its superintendent, Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations Michelle Cresta departed this month for a similar position in Manchester Essex, and interim Superintendent Theresa McGuinness also announced in January that she would not pursue the permanent position.
“If I am the successful candidate, I will miss all of you and our years together as we keep each other well,” Murphy said. “If not selected, I assure you that I am lucky to continue the great collaboration we have here at Village School.”
