Police Logs July 23 – 29

Wednesday, July 23

Arrests

At 7:30 p.m., Marblehead officers assisted another agency and arrested David Kendall, 53, of 173 Lafayette St., Apt. 9, Salem, on an outstanding non-Marblehead warrant. He was taken into custody without incident near Countryside Lane and the rail road right of way.

911 Hang-Ups

Three accidental or non-emergency 911 calls were received and investigated. These occurred at 7:43 a.m. on Jersey Street, 11:50 a.m. on Tioga Way, and 3:59 p.m. on Smith Street. All were found to be misdials or unintentional.

Alarms

Police responded to two burglar alarms on Ocean Avenue. The first came at 6:22 p.m. from Doaks Lane and was determined to be a false alarm after officers confirmed the property was secure. A second alarm at 7:46 p.m. on Ocean Avenue also proved to be unfounded and required no further action.

Assist Citizen

Throughout the day, police helped residents in several instances. At 4:51 p.m., a person on Ocean Avenue requested officer assistance but no action was ultimately required. Another citizen was assisted at 5:12 p.m. on State Street. Later, at 7:30 p.m., officers aided individuals near Countryside Lane in conjunction with the arrest noted above.

Assist Other Agency

At 10:54 p.m., Marblehead police provided support to another agency at Margin Street in Salem. Officers coordinated their efforts to ensure safe and efficient handling of the outside jurisdiction’s request.

Boat Complaint

A report of an issue in Salem Harbor came in at 5:02 p.m. Police responded to investigate the boat complaint, and appropriate action was taken based on the findings on scene.

Complaints

Officers handled multiple general complaints. At 3:19 p.m., they were dispatched to the intersection of Lafayette Street and Carna Road, but could not locate the source of the concern. At 5:28 p.m., a resident of Broughton Road lodged a complaint, and a report was taken for follow-up. Another general complaint at 9:17 p.m. from Phillips Street involved both police and Fire Department personnel, including Engine 1. Police documented the situation and rendered assistance on scene.

Disturbance

A disturbance was reported at 2:58 p.m. on Commercial Street. Officers responded and spoke with involved parties. A report was filed for documentation. No further disruption was reported following the intervention.

Found/Lost Property

At 1:57 p.m., a resident turned in a lost item at Pleasant Street. Police documented the property and rendered services related to the found item.

General Information

Police documented two informational incidents. At 12:01 p.m., officers responded to Lee Street to gather and document relevant information. A second, non-criminal matter was recorded at 8:18 p.m. on West Orchard Street. Neither case required further enforcement action.

Motor Vehicle Activity

There were two motor vehicle-related incidents. At 11:23 a.m., a driver was issued a verbal warning after being stopped near Elm Street. Later in the day, at 4:38 p.m., a motor vehicle crash occurred on Leicester Road. Officers arrived to investigate and completed a crash report on scene. No major injuries or citations were indicated.

Property Checks

Routine property checks were performed throughout the day. Officers checked locations on Community Road, Atlantic Avenue, Ocean Avenue, Pleasant Street, and Lighthouse Lane between 12:33 a.m. and 10:01 p.m. Most locations were found secure, and no suspicious activity was reported.

Protective Orders

Three restraining orders were served or attempted during the day. The first occurred at 8:13 a.m. on Washington Street. Officers then followed up on similar orders at 2:08 p.m. on Rowland Street and at 2:24 p.m. on Leggs Hill Road.

Restoration/Utility Calls

Officers responded to three utility-related calls. At 11:03 a.m., they investigated an issue on Washington Street. Later in the evening, at 9:55 p.m., officers rendered assistance for a DPW or electrical issue on Pickwick Road.

Scams

At 10:35 a.m., a resident on Lattimer Street reported receiving a scam call involving a fraudulent “grandparent” scenario. Police documented the attempt and advised the reporting party accordingly.

Suspicious Activity

A suspicious situation on Rowland Street at 8:51 a.m. prompted a police response. Officers investigated the matter and took a report to document the incident.

Town Bylaws

A bylaw-related matter was addressed at 1:36 p.m. on Pickwick Road. Officers provided education or enforcement in line with local non-criminal ordinances.

Worksite Details

Police monitored and assisted multiple crews and contractors throughout town. Beginning at 6:50 a.m., units provided support to Mayer Tree Service, National Grid, Cicoria Tree, RJ Devereaux, Granese Construction, and Verizon at various intersections including Pleasant Street, Bubier Road, Euclid Avenue, and Watson Street.

 

Thursday, July 24

911 Hang-Ups

Three 911 hang-ups were recorded and investigated. At 8:28 a.m., a call came in from Smith Street, which officers followed up on. A second hang-up occurred at 9:29 a.m. on Green Street. In both cases, officers determined there was no emergency. Earlier in the day, an out-of-town 911 call from Salem was referred to the appropriate agency.

Alarms

Two burglar alarms were reported on Village Street during the day. The first call came in at 2:08 p.m. for a home on Village Street and was investigated by multiple units. It was ultimately determined to be a false alarm. Another alarm was triggered at 11:09 p.m. on the same street, which was also checked and confirmed to be false.

Assist Citizen

Officers assisted citizens in several locations. At 9:59 a.m., a resident on Farrell Court received help with a non-criminal matter. Later, at 11:44 a.m., police were called to Pleasant Street to assist another individual. In both cases, officers rendered aid and ensured the situation was resolved without further incident.

Building Checks

At 10 p.m., officers conducted a building check on Lighthouse Lane and found the premises secure.

Complaints

Throughout the day, police addressed a series of general complaints. At 9 a.m., a complaint was received from Gerry Street and was investigated. Officers later responded to Ocean Avenue at 2:01 p.m. to address a separate concern. Around 2:28 p.m., another complaint was recorded at Atlantic Avenue and Garden Road, resulting in a field interview. At 3:01 p.m., officers investigated a report on Alden Road but no action was necessary. In the evening at 10:17 p.m., units responded to a complaint on Commercial Street that involved both police and fire department personnel. A report was taken, and assistance was provided on scene.

General Information

At 10:11 a.m., police were called to Commercial Street for a situation that could not be immediately located. Officers logged the information and remained on alert for any follow-up.

Inspections

A unit performed a scheduled inspection at a property on Pleasant Street at 11:05 a.m. The site was checked, and all appeared in order.

Motor Vehicle Activity

Two motor vehicle crashes occurred during the afternoon. At 12:16 p.m., officers responded to Atlantic Avenue and Barnard Street for a reported collision. A report was filed. Just eleven minutes later, another crash took place near Commercial and Cottage streets, which was also investigated and documented.

In the evening, officers responded to a moving vehicle complaint at Pleasant and Prospect streets at 7:34 p.m. Shortly after, at 8:39 p.m., a driver was stopped near Lafayette and Doane streets and issued a verbal warning. Another motor vehicle stop at 9:03 p.m. on Atlantic Avenue also resulted in a verbal warning.

Out of Town Calls

At 9:02 a.m., Marblehead police received a 911 call originating from Congress Street in Salem. The call was transferred to the appropriate outside agency.

Property Checks

Routine property checks were conducted at several locations throughout the day and night. Starting just after 1 a.m., checks were made on Atlantic Avenue, Pleasant Street, and West Shore Drive. Throughout the day, officers visited properties on Community Road and Atlantic Avenue again during regular patrols. All properties were found to be secure.

Public Utilities/Worksite Details

Marblehead police coordinated traffic and safety for numerous utility and construction crews across town. Starting at 6:30 a.m., officers assisted Mayer Tree for MMLD at Woodfin Terrace, RJ Devereaux crews at Prospect and Euclid, National Grid at Pleasant and Watson, and Granese Construction at Pleasant and Mohawk roads. Additional crews from Verizon were on Pleasant Street later that morning, with officers ensuring the safety of workers and motorists in the area. Units also supported National Grid work at Prospect Court and Front Street throughout the morning.

Suspicious Activity

Just before midnight, officers investigated a report of suspicious activity at a Pleasant Street address. A report was filed for follow-up.

 

Friday, July 25

911 Hang-Ups

Three 911 hang-ups were received throughout the day. The first came in at 8:22 a.m. from Sewall Street, followed by another at 11:55 a.m. near Humphrey Street and Ralph Road, and a third at 4:57 p.m. on Atlantic Avenue. Officers responded to each call and confirmed there were no emergencies at the reported locations.

Alarms

Police responded to three burglar alarms throughout the day. The first call came in at 6:13 a.m. on Londonderry Road, where the home was checked and secured without incident. Later, at 11:26 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on Churchill Road after another alarm sounded. It was determined to be a false alarm. A third false alarm was reported at 2:40 p.m. on Baldwin Road. In all cases, the properties were confirmed secure and no emergency was found.

Assist Citizen

Officers rendered aid to residents during three separate calls. At 10:46 a.m., assistance was provided on Jersey Street for a non-criminal matter. At 6:23 p.m., officers responded to Hillside Avenue, where they took a report following the interaction. Later, at 6:41 p.m., help was provided to a resident on Bassett Street, resolving the issue without further incident.

Building Checks

A building on Lighthouse Lane was checked at 10:01 p.m. and found secure by patrol units. Additional property checks throughout the day included locations on Stramski Way, Atlantic Avenue, and Community Road.

Complaints

Officers addressed a bylaw-related complaint on Schooner Ridge at 7:11 a.m., though it was ultimately determined to be unfounded. Another complaint was logged at 5:27 p.m. from Gerry Street regarding repeated calls, but no police action was necessary after officers assessed the situation.

Disturbances

Police investigated a disturbance on Washington Street at 9:21 p.m. Officers spoke to those involved and were able to deescalate the matter without needing further enforcement.

Found/Lost Property

A report of found property was taken from Curtis Street at 9 a.m. Officers ensured the item was secured and properly documented.

Larceny/Forgery/Fraud

A report of larceny was taken from a resident on Colgate Road at 4:51 p.m. Officers initiated an investigation into the incident and documented the complaint for follow-up.

Motor Vehicles

A steady volume of motor vehicle activity kept police busy throughout the day. At 9:03 a.m., officers responded to a disabled vehicle on Pleasant Street, which was eventually towed from the area. Another disabled vehicle was reported at 2:17 p.m. near Nanepashemet Street and Harbor Avenue, and officers provided assistance.

In addition, a total of five motor vehicle stops were conducted. Warnings were issued at 9:03 a.m. on Pleasant Street, 10:19 a.m. at West Shore Drive and Shorewood Road, 1:35 p.m. at Humphrey and Doane streets, 1:36 p.m. at Pleasant Street and Mohawk Road, and 6:21 p.m. at Lafayette Street. A moving vehicle complaint was reported near Green Street at 12:56 p.m., though no police action was required.

Out-of-Town Assistance

At 8:59 a.m., Marblehead Police responded to a report of a robbery in progress on Guild Street in Roxbury. The call was immediately referred to the appropriate outside agency for response.

Property Checks

Multiple locations received routine checks, including Community Road and Atlantic Avenue in the late morning and several overnight checks on Atlantic Avenue and Stramski Way.

Public Utilities/Worksite Details

Police provided traffic control and oversight at several active utility and construction sites. Work details began at 6:30 a.m. and included Mayer Tree working on behalf of MMLD at Woodfin Terrace, RJ Devereaux crews on Prospect Street and Longview Drive, and National Grid work at Pleasant and Watson streets. Granese crews were stationed at Pleasant and Mohawk roads. Verizon crews were also operating on Pleasant Street, with police details ensuring the safety of workers and the public.

Suspicious Activity

At 7:22 p.m., officers investigated a report of suspicious activity in the area of Mechanic Square. The situation was resolved without further action, and officers confirmed no ongoing threat.

Vandalism

Police were called to Turner Road at 12:45 p.m. for a vandalism report. The matter was referred to another agency for further investigation.

 

Saturday, July 26

911 Hang-Ups

A 911 hang-up was received at 12:44 p.m. from a residence on Lighthouse Lane. Officers followed up to confirm there was no emergency, and the matter was cleared without further concern.

Assist Citizen

At 7:51 p.m., officers were dispatched to Evans Road to assist a resident with a non-criminal matter. The issue was resolved on scene, and no further police action was needed.

Boat Complaint

A boat-related complaint in Marblehead Harbor prompted a response at 5:32 p.m. Officers addressed the issue and ensured compliance with local boating rules. No further problems were noted.

Complaints

Police handled several general complaints throughout the day.

At 1:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to Naugus Avenue for a noise complaint, but the issue was found to be unfounded. Later, at 2:06 a.m., officers responded to a concern on Commercial Street and provided assistance to resolve the matter.

In the afternoon, a complaint near Lafayette and Maple streets at 5:06 p.m. required no police action. A separate issue was reported on Richard Road at 8:15 p.m., but officers were unable to locate the source of the disturbance.

Later in the night, police restored the peace after a disturbance on Pleasant Street at 11:19 p.m., and officers also responded to a report of a loud party or activity on Nanepashemet Street at 11:23 p.m., which was resolved on scene.

Another general complaint was recorded at 9:57 p.m. on Countryside Lane and was handled without incident.

Found/Lost Property

Three incidents involving lost or found property were logged.

At 11:55 a.m., officers assisted with found property near Smith Street. A second case was recorded on Abbot Street at 3:05 p.m., and a third incident occurred on Washington Street at 8:11 p.m. Officers ensured the items were secured and noted for retrieval if necessary.

Motor Vehicles

The Marblehead Police Department responded to multiple motor vehicle-related calls.

At 10:38 a.m., a driver was stopped near Pleasant Street and given a verbal warning. Additional stops resulting in warnings occurred at 5:50 p.m. on Creesy Street and at 9:10 p.m. near Front and Selman streets.

Officers also investigated two motor vehicle complaints involving moving violations. One was reported on Atlantic Avenue at 2:11 p.m., and another on Schooner Ridge at 2:58 p.m. In both cases, officers ensured safety and restored order.

Property Checks

Routine property and building checks were conducted throughout the day and night across town. Officers verified the security of numerous locations, including Atlantic Avenue, Community Road, Ocean Avenue, Lighthouse Lane, Stramski Way, Humphrey Street, and others. All sites were found to be secure or received services as needed.

 

Sunday, July 27

911 Hang-Ups

At 2:06 a.m., police received a 911 hang-up call from the area of Atlantic Avenue. Officers investigated the situation, confirmed there was no emergency, and cleared the scene.

Alarms

At 8:17 a.m., a burglar alarm was reported at a residence on Ocean Avenue. Officers responded and ensured the property was secure. After checking the premises, the situation was resolved without incident.

Assist Citizen

Police responded to a call for assistance at 8:53 p.m. on Summer Street. Officers provided support for a resident dealing with a non-criminal matter. Services were rendered and no further follow-up was necessary.

Complaints

At 8:33 a.m., a general complaint was filed by a resident on Longview Drive. Officers responded to the location and took a report for documentation. The nature of the complaint required no immediate enforcement action but was addressed by police presence.

Disturbances

Just after midnight, at 12:22 a.m., officers responded to a disturbance on Pleasant Street. Two officers were dispatched to the location and filed a report following the interaction. The incident was brought under control without escalation.

Found/Lost Property

Two property-related calls were handled on Sunday. The first occurred at 10:15 a.m. in Market Square, where officers assisted with a found item. The second was logged at 7:03 p.m. on State Street. Both items were secured and documented for return if claimed.

Motor Vehicles

At 11:37 p.m., officers responded to a moving vehicle complaint on Ballast Lane. A unit arrived on scene, evaluated the situation, and rendered services. No further issues were reported and the area was cleared without incident.

Property Checks

Throughout the day and night, police conducted routine property and building checks around town. Officers verified security at locations on Everett Paine Boulevard (12:29 a.m.), Atlantic Avenue (12:33 a.m. and again at 9:09 p.m.), Community Road (12:36 a.m. and again at 9:02 p.m.), Ocean Avenue (6:01 a.m., 6:01 a.m., and 6:02 a.m.), Lighthouse Lane (6:39 a.m. and 10:07 p.m.), and others. All locations were found secure, and the checks were noted in the log.

 

Monday, July 28

Assist Citizen

Officers responded to multiple calls to assist residents. At 9:12 a.m., officers were called to Hooper Street to help a resident with a non-emergency matter. Later in the evening, at 6:58 p.m., a unit was dispatched to Village Street after a request for assistance, but officers were unable to locate the caller.

Complaints

At 5:28 p.m., police were called to the area of Jersey Street and West Shore Drive in response to a general complaint. Officers followed up with the involved parties and addressed the concern appropriately.

Disturbances

A disturbance was reported at 12:19 a.m. on Rowland Street. Officers responded to the scene and were able to resolve the issue, rendering services without further action. Later in the day, at 3:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to Atlantic Avenue for another disturbance call, but the source could not be located upon arrival.

Found/Lost Property

At 4:33 p.m., officers assisted with a lost property report on Neptune Road. The situation was addressed and documented accordingly, and services were rendered to the reporting party.

Property Checks

Routine checks were conducted throughout the day to ensure safety across town. Officers conducted checks at various locations, including West Shore Drive, Atlantic Avenue, Community Road, and Lighthouse Lane during overnight and evening shifts. All properties were found to be secure.

Public Works/Construction Details

Officers supported several scheduled construction and utility work assignments. These included Mayer Tree at Woodfin Terrace (6:50 a.m., no action needed), RJ Devereaux crews at Pleasant Street and Prospect Street (with Officers Rizos and Picariello), and Longview Drive (with Officers McDonald and Conrad). Additional details involved Granese work on Bubier Road near Atlantic Avenue and Wyman Road (with Officers Morley and DeFelice), and National Grid utility work on Front Street and Pleasant Street with multiple officers assigned for traffic control and public safety.

Suspicious Activity / WGBH

At 3:30 p.m., officers responded to Ocean Avenue and Harbor Avenue regarding a matter connected to WGBH. The nature of the call was not listed as a crime, and services were rendered on scene.

Telephone Issues / 911 Hang-Ups and Open Lines

Dispatchers received several emergency calls with no one on the line or accidental hang-ups.

  • At 1:00 a.m., a 911 hang-up came in from Spring Street.

  • At 10:37 a.m., another open line was received from Gerry Street.

  • At 1:54 p.m., a 911 hang-up from Nahant Street was logged, but no further action was needed.

  • At 5:49 p.m., another open line was received from Ocean Avenue, which was investigated and resolved.

 

Tuesday, July 29

Assist Citizen

At 12:31 p.m., police responded to Farrell Court to assist a resident with a non-emergency matter. Officers provided support on site, and the situation was resolved without further issue.

Complaints

Officers responded to two general complaints on Tuesday. The first came in at 10:13 a.m. from the area of Beacon Street and Schooner Ridge but was determined to be unfounded. Later, at 6:43 p.m., police were called to Clifton Avenue for a reported complaint. Officers investigated and filed an incident report for documentation.

Found/Lost Property

Several reports of lost or found items were handled throughout the day. At 11:14 a.m., an attempt to locate lost property on Ocean Avenue was unsuccessful. Shortly after, around 1:16 p.m., a resident on State Street reported a lost phone, which was addressed by police. Later that afternoon, at 1:23 p.m., officers followed up on a found item on Glendale Road and filed an incident report. Additional items were turned in or located on Gerry Street at 8:21 p.m. and on Washington Street at 8:31 p.m.

Motor Vehicles

The day saw multiple motor vehicle stops and related incidents across town. At 8:58 a.m., a driver on Humphrey Street was issued a verbal warning, followed by another warning at 9:12 a.m. on Lafayette Street near Dartmouth Road. Minutes later, at 9:13 a.m., officers pulled over a vehicle on Humphrey Street near Thompson Road and again issued a verbal warning. At 9:25 a.m., another motorist was stopped near Sheldon Road and given a warning. Shortly before noon, a stop at Pleasant and Anderson streets at 11:57 a.m. resulted in a warning, followed by a similar stop at 12:08 p.m. on Pleasant Street where another driver was cautioned. At 1:19 p.m., officers issued a citation to a driver at Pleasant and Smith streets, and at 1:47 p.m., a second citation was issued at Ocean Avenue and Corinthian Lane. A disabled vehicle was reported on Washington Street at 1:28 p.m., and officers rendered assistance to ensure safety. Later in the day, at 5:38 p.m., police responded to a reported motor vehicle crash near Atlantic Avenue and Washington Street, but no accident was found upon arrival. All other motor vehicle matters were handled without issue, and no major enforcement actions were required.

Property Checks

Throughout the day and night, officers performed routine checks at multiple locations, including Community Road, Stramski Way, Pleasant Street, Atlantic Avenue, and Lighthouse Lane. These checks began just after midnight and continued into the evening hours, ensuring public buildings and municipal sites remained secure.

Public Works/Construction Details

Police assisted with numerous scheduled utility and road work details starting at 6:50 a.m. These included Mayer Tree work on Woodfin Terrace, RJ Devereaux work on Pleasant Street and Longview Drive, and Granese utility work near Pleasant Street and Mohawk Road. Verizon and National Grid also performed maintenance and installations along Pleasant Street and Watson Street, with police providing support and traffic control. Additional detail officers were stationed on Commercial Street throughout the morning.

Restraining Order

Officers served or attempted to serve a restraining order at 11:40 a.m. on Commercial Street. The service was handled professionally, and an additional officer responded to support the matter.

Solicitors

At 2:14 p.m., a report of solicitors operating in the area of Smith Street and Devereux Street was investigated. No further action was required, and the activity did not result in any violations.

Suspicious Activity

At 3:45 p.m., a suspicious incident was reported on Powder House Court. The situation was checked by responding officers and ultimately deemed not to require further action. Later, at 6:36 p.m., officers were called to Village Street for a separate suspicious activity report. Units investigated and rendered services as needed.

Telephone Issues / 911 Hang-Ups

Three calls involving phone issues or 911 misdials were logged. At 4:02 p.m., a 911 hang-up from Girdler Road prompted a response, and services were rendered. At 7:37 p.m., another 911 hang-up from Park Lane was determined to be unfounded. These types of calls are often accidental but are followed up on to confirm there is no emergency.

Utilities

A concern regarding utilities, possibly electrical or municipal services, was reported from Crestwood Road at 7:33 p.m. Officers evaluated the issue, but no police action was required.
